Dear Municipal Leaders and Road Operators across Canada,
WHY WAIT?
A recent survey[1] of Ontario municipalities indicated that 77% of respondents rated their knowledge about connected vehicles and autonomous vehicles (CV/AV) as average to far above average. Yet, 74% reported that no internal CV/AV working group had been formed and 30% indicated they were waiting for other municipalities to do something first. Why?
5 WINNING SITES WILL GET CONNECTED INTERSECTIONS IN 2021
As reported by a majority of municipalities surveyed, the top three reasons are: lack of technical resources, lack of funding and Insufficient knowledge/understanding. As a result, Fortran is on a mission to help. Together with our partners, we intend to identify 5 pilot sites in Canada to receive funding, technology and access to expertise, to test and deploy Fortran’s powerful, proven and patented connected vehicle signal priority system to the winning municipalities.

Contest details will be announced on March 31, 2021 with contest submissions due by May 31, 2021. Winning municipalities will be announced on July 31, 2021.
